In the construction industry, there are significant risks to our electricians every day. As a company, Prime Electric refuses to ever put cost, schedule, or production ahead of anyone’s health and safety. We want to bring a fresh perspective to workplace safety. It’s not just about doing what is required of us, it’s about making sure our team members – and everyone else on-site – maintain a good quality of life so they can do what they love. We all have important reasons to stay safe at work: families, partners, pets, and hobbies. That’s why we are officially launching Home Safe, Every Day, a safety program refresh to focus on the “why” for working safely.
I have been in Safety my entire career. I believe in the importance of sharing my philosophy of solving problems based on real world scenarios. During my freshman year of college, I was deployed to Iraq as a combat engineer performing route-clearance operations identifying and neutralizing IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices). Returning home, I continued my education and received my Safety and Health Management degree from Central Washington University. My time serving in the military and my work on jobsites during my schooling gave me perspective on the importance of safety procedures in high-risk professions. I spent much of my career developing programs to ensure every employee is equipped with foundational skills to prevent injuries before they occur. Home Safe, Every Day was part of Prime Electric’s internal culture for years. Now is the time to refocus and bring it forward as PRIME’s official safety program.
PRIME’s refreshed safety program is based on 5 core principles that have developed our safety policies and procedures.
At PRIME, we know that companies don’t build buildings – people do. Safety is a collective responsibility and it’s essential that every team member takes ownership of keeping themselves and those around them safe. By working together as a cohesive unit, we can identify potential risks, address them proactively, and create a safer work environment for everyone. This includes building relationships with the General Contractors, Owners, and other subcontractors on-site to make sure all our project teams are on the same page when it comes to safety. We place the well-being of our team members at the forefront of everything we do. Sending everybody home safe is not a choice; it’s a fundamental principle that drives all our actions.
